Lambeth Archives open day at the Minet Library

  • 27 Sep 2014
  • 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM
  • Minet Library, 52 Knatchbull Road, London SE5 9QY

Lambeth Archives Open Day on Saturday 27 September.

Archives Day is part of a month-long festival to celebrate the rich heritage of Lambeth.  This year, the theme for Archives Day is “It’ll be over by Christmas” – Lambeth and the Great War.

There will be a number of talks at Archives Day: stories about the First World War from a range of different perspectives – from the local volunteer force to the story of the conscientious objectors. You will be able to learn more about local men who died and are commemorated on the Stockwell War Memorial and the considerable contribution to the war effort made by the black community of the time.

In the afternoon, join a family event, and help to create a poppy chain of remembrance to pay tribute to loved ones and those who gave their lives in the first World War.
